The Namibian Business Awards were held on the 29th of November 2011 at a gala dinner at the Safari Hotel. Awards were presented for the following categories;
 

1. Business Leader of the Year
2. Investor of the Year (foreign & domestic)
3. Award for best Innovative company
4. Best Entrepreneur of the year
5. Best Corporate Responsible Company

United Africa Group won the Domestic Investor of the Year Award. The award was an effort to recognise an investment that will have had the most impact in terms of: attracting other investments; impacting the community where the investment has taken place; assisted to changing the perception of investing in Namibia; innovative practices; diversifying the economic landscape; and moving up the value chain. The investment should also have social responsibility and promoted good governance practices. The size of the investment and the impact.

The criteria for winning this award are listed as follows;

Investment had an impact in new business practices, opening up of markets, encouraging others to invest, and diversifying the economy

Commitment to corporate social responsibility (Compliance to Namibian Laws) and good governance practices.
 

Number of jobs created as a result of the investment
(either through reinvestment or new investment)

Capacity Building Programmes for Employees ( Skills Transfer)

Attach certificates of Good Standing from Social Security Commission and Ministry of Finance
